The rumors are true, Godzilla is coming to Long Island! We’re not talking about the monster though. We are actually talking about Ford’s new “Godzilla” engine. Learn more about this monstrous engine by reading on!
New for 2020 is Ford’s Godzilla engine, an unreal 7.3 liter V8 gasoline engine that is coming to the Super Duty lineup. This engine is considered the best in its class when it comes to horsepower and torque. The Godzilla engine earns 430 horsepower at 5,500 rotations per minute (rpm) and 475-pound feet of torque at 4,000 rpm.
Car buyers will be able to find the Godzilla engine under the hood of the Ford F-250 and the F-350 HD in 2020. Shortly thereafter, the entire HD and commercial lineup will also offer the Godzilla engine.
It is predicted that the Godzilla engine will be mated to a new 10-speed automatic transmission. This transmission has been heavily revised so it can function properly with the Godzilla engine to produce incredible power, as well as control.
The 7.3 liter V8 Godzilla engine is assembled with a pushrod design, with extra-large main bearings, a forged steel crankshaft, and variable-displacement oil pump and piston cooling jets. These jets manage temperature under heavy loads, so the vehicle can tackle large towing jobs without overheating.
